Ramón y Cajal
Refurbishment of a Modernist building from 1925 which had been pretty much abandoned.
The different layers which had been accumulated over the years are removed in order to recover the essence of the building, which is reinforced with a decisive intervention in the structure and the exterior.
Simple and clear apartments are designed looking for transparency between the street and the inner patio. Valuable historic elements such as hydraulic pavements, stuccos and iron fittings are restored.
As a result, there is a dialogue between functionality/practicality and historical and decorative dimensions.
